Uplift Murals and Team Building was created to improve well-being through art. Founder and professional artist Lilian Belaen shares what “creative wellness” means, why community matters, and what you can expect when you create together.
Who are you, and what is Uplift?
Hi, I’m Lilian Belaen. I’m a professional artist based in Vancouver, Washington, and the founder of Uplift Murals and Team Building.
I started Uplift because I have a sincere passion for using art to help others. With years of experience in both creative expression and as an insurance business professional, I’ve dedicated my life to bridging the worlds of art and well-being.
"To me, creative wellness is using creativity as a practical way to reset and reconnect."
What does “creative wellness” mean in plain language?
To me, creative wellness is using creativity as a practical way to reset and reconnect.
It’s not about being “good at art.” It’s about giving yourself permission to create, reflect, and express something real. When people create, they often feel calmer, more open, and more connected to themselves and the people around them. That matters to me, and it’s a big part of what Uplift is here to support. Why do you focus on teams, events, and community?
Community plays a big role in well-being and belonging. Creating meaningful social engagement through art classes and team building is very rewarding and important.
Team art classes offer organizations a way to support and encourage their employees. I’ve seen how creating together can reduce stress, strengthen collaboration, and help people connect in a way that feels natural.
What can a group expect during an Uplift experience?
A lot of people show up nervous because they don’t see themselves as creative. My job is to make the experience feel welcoming, supportive, and easy to follow.
I guide the group step-by-step, and I also encourage people to make it their own. The goal isn’t perfection. The goal is to enjoy the process, feel proud of what you made, and experience what it’s like to create together. By the end, people usually feel lighter, more connected, and genuinely uplifted.
How do your classes support well-being without feeling heavy?
I’ve developed classes that place an emphasis on mindfulness, emotional support, self-care, and community building.
That can be as simple as creating a calm, encouraging atmosphere where people feel comfortable trying something new. When people feel safe and supported, the benefits of creativity can show up naturally.
What does Uplift offer?
Uplift offers Drop-in Art for Conferences and Large Events, Team Building Classes, Workshops, and Collaborative Team Murals.
Each option is designed to bring creativity into everyday life in a way that’s approachable and meaningful. Whether it’s a team building day, an event experience, or a mural that enhances a space, the goal is the same: create connection and make a positive difference through art.

What does the sunshine logo represent?
Our sunshine logo symbolizes personal growth, transformation, reflection through art, freedom in expression, and our collective light as a community.
That symbolism reflects what I hope people feel when they work with Uplift: included, encouraged, and inspired.
Is there anything else you’d like people to know?
